About Us
Welcome to Public Speakers Sligo ( PSS ) – Agora Club No. 169.
If you feel nervous about speaking in public, you’re not alone.
Many of our members joined for exactly that reason.
Public Speakers Sligo is an established public speaking and leadership club based in Sligo town.
At our meetings members are invited to take on a variety of roles e.g. time keeping, talk about a favourite book or film, share stories and in time give speeches. All feedback is offered in a constructive and supportive way with the purpose of helping speakers to grow in confidence and reach their potential. You are never judged, nor pressured to speak before you are ready. Whether you are a complete beginner or looking to develop existing skills you are most welcome
Meeting Information
Join Us Twice Monthly
We meet every first and third Tuesday for an evening of learning, practice, and shared public speaking experience.
When: Meetings run from September through to June, starting at 7:00 PM and finishing at 9:00 PM, with a short tea or coffee break at 8:00 PM.
Agenda: A full meeting agenda is shared with members and guests ahead of time so you know what to expect.
Cost: Annual membership is €40, and each meeting is €7, with refreshments included at every session.
Guests: Visitors are always welcome! Your first two meetings are complementary, with no obligation to join.
We're happy to answer any questions during the
tea break or afterwards.

How to Join
Step 1.
Firstly we would encourage people to attend one or two of our meetings (held on the 1st and 3rd Tuesday ) as a guest. Don't worry - guests will never feel compelled to speak at any meeting. However if you do feel like contributing, this is most welcome and there will be a chance to do so during the Table Topic session.
Remembering first two meetings are complimentary for guests.
Step 2.
Once you have visited our club and perhaps taken part, you may like to become a member. Simply approach our Vice President - Education or any member of the club and they will be more than happy to guide you through the simple process.
Step 3.
The yearly membership fee is €40.00 payable from September. Fees cover digital and printed materials which provide helpful information on roles and responsibilities through our website and the Agora Manuel. Fees also support other aspects of our club e.g. inviting guest speakers, social gatherings, jointed meetings and holding debates.
As a member of PSS you’ll be joining 1,000s of associated members around the world, completing a proven set of guidelines and achievements to develop and improve your public speaking, communication, leadership and personal skills.
